The Dormition, Death of the Virgin, has been celebrated in the West since the 7th century, also called the Assumption.
Christ collects the soul of his mother, in the presence of angels, apostles and holy women.
Inscription below, in Armenian: This holy image was offered by Stépan Mahdési Békentz for the living and for the dead, to the Holy Sign of the church of Habertcher, in memoriam, ex-voto 1859.
