Gold damascened blade with deep off-centre groove, handle decorated with rivets.
The khanjali is a formidable weapon that the men of the Caucasus often carried in pairs on each side of their belt. The blades were tapered on both sides and had blood grooves, causing haemorrhages that were often fatal. An ornate and elaborate khanjali paid tribute to the rank of its owner.
